9 de may. de 2024 · Baer was named by Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler to succeed Arthur Liebehenschel, as Auschwitz commandant because Himmler felt Liebehenschel was “too soft.” Auschwitz was opened in what was, and is now, Poland, in the Spring of 1940, with Rudolph Höss as camp commandant.
