22 de may. de 2024 · The town's history dates from the 5th century. A settlement was recorded here by Saint Patrick in AD450. By 870 Dumbarton Rock had become a fortress and the capital of Strathclyde. The town was made a Royal Burgh in 1222 and Dumbarton Castle was built on the Rock.
