It contains the ruins of one of Scotland’s four royal palaces, which now stands roofless. The building of the palace was begun by James I of Scotland, and it subsequently became a favourite abode.

Linlithgow Palace is in the town of Linlithgow, around a 20 mile drive west of Edinburgh, or 30 miles east of Glasgow.

25 de may. de 2024 · Many people in Linlithgow are very concerned that the Palace has been closed to visitors for so long. Over the winter months, Historic Environment Scotland have undertaken a detailed survey of the palaces stonework, which has been deemed as unsafe and dangerous.
3 de jun. de 2024 · Linlithgow Palace is well worth a visit. If based in Edinburgh, it is approximately a 20 minute train ride and then around a five minute walk to reach the palace. I spent approximately 2 hours exploring. There is a small gift shop in the entrance and one toilet at the palace.
