They're over-the-top escapism. "Martyrs" is not. "Martyrs" is an experience. It's a work of art. You never know what direction this film is taking and it keeps you on your toes. But I would never recommend this film to anyone ever. It's one of those rare movies that feels like you've lost a part of your retained innocence after you've witnessed it.
