While I love Discovery, Time, Secret Messages and Balance of Power; the deep rich orchestral sound on New World Record and Out of the Blue , to me; are the epitome and peak of Elo both written and composed by Jeff Lynne. However, Louis Clark’s contribution clearly can be heard which imo elevate these albums above the rest.

Two ELO albums reached the top of the British chart: the disco -inspired Discovery (1979) and the science fiction –themed concept album Time (1981).
