6 de may. de 2024 · John and Charles Bell. John Bell was a Scottish anatomist, surgeon, and Professor of Surgery in Edinburgh. In his work, he placed great stress on the fundamental role of anatomy in surgical practice. Indeed, he is known as the father of surgical anatomy.
Hace 6 días · In lodgings in Fludyer Street lived the eminent surgeon, Sir Charles Bell, in the early part of his career, before he joined the Middlesex Hospital. This street was so named after Sir Samuel Fludyer, the ground-landlord, who, when Lord Mayor in 1761, entertained George III. and Queen Charlotte at Guildhall.
9 de may. de 2024 · The disorder is named for the Scottish surgeon Sir Charles Bell, who first described the function of the facial nerve in 1829. The facial nerve supplies the muscles of movement and expression of the face. It also has sensory components that supply taste to the anterior two-thirds of the tongue and sensation in a small area around the ear.

Hace 3 días · It may be added that the fine museum in which Sir Charles Bell used to lecture, with its miscellaneous collection of curiosa, which the Government refused to buy, was sold to the Royal College of Surgeons at Edinburgh. The house occupied by the Medical School became afterwards a printingoffice, and is now a foreign restaurant's.
