28 de jun. de 2024 · He was the son of Ferdinand, 2nd Prince of Solms-Braunfels and Countess Sophie of Solms-Laubach. Friederike and Friedrich were quietly married in Berlin on December 10, 1798. The scandal caused a rift with her sister Luise, and enraged her aunt – and intended mother-in-law – Queen Charlotte of the United Kingdom.
Due to its location on Four Mile Creek, Solms was formerly named for that stream. As settlers moved westward along Comal Creek in the late 1840s, the hamlet came into existence. The town's name was changed to Solms sometime about 1880 in honor of Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels , a prominent figure in the county's German immigrant community.

The town was named after Braunfels, the prince’s hometown in Germany, and became a destination for German immigrants.
