Alfred Emanuel Smith (Nueva York, 30 de diciembre de 1873-Nueva York, 4 de octubre de 1944), conocido como Alfred E. Smith o Al Smith, fue un político estadounidense. Smith was the foremost urban leader of the Efficiency Movement in the United States and was noted for achieving a wide range of reforms as the New York governor in the 1920s. Smith was the first Roman Catholic to be nominated for president of the United States by a major party.

After his father’s death when he was thirteen, he took on a series of jobs including chaser for a trucker, oil worker, and three years working at the Fulton Fish Market.
