Legion of Honour. Major John Strange Spencer-Churchill DSO TD (4 February 1880 – 23 February 1947), known as Jack Churchill, [a] was the younger son of Lord Randolph Churchill and his wife Jennie, and the brother of former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Sir Winston Churchill. [1]
10 de sept. de 2017 · John Strange Spencer Churchill (Jack) was born in Dublin on 4 February 1880, during the time his grandfather, the seventh Duke of Marlborough, was Viceroy of Ireland, and his father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was serving as his Private Secretary. The family lived there from December 1876 until April 1880.

27 de abr. de 2020 · In Dublin, the Duke and Duchess lived at Viceregal Lodge in Phoenix Park. Lord Randolph with his wife Jennie and young son Winston lived nearby in the Little Lodge. The Churchill family grew when Winston’s brother John Strange Spencer-Churchill was born at Phoenix Park on 4 February 1880.

A better student and more financially stable than his mother or brother, his career as a stockbroker and the family “brains” often staved off financial disaster (227). Like Winston, he served in both the Boer War and First World War.
