He graduated from the Novocherkassk Theological School (1909). Then he studied at the Rostov Real School of the College of Teachers. (A " Real School ", from German "Realschule" is a school which concentrates on natural and mathematical subjects.)
In early 1821, following the suggestion of Epifaniy (Savvich-Kanivetsky), Bishop of Voronezh and Cherkassy, the administration of the Seminary of Voronezh started the establishment of three religious schools in the Don Army Land, with their activities being regulated by the law of the Russian Empire.
