John Rawdon, 1st Earl of Moira (17 March 1720 – 20 June 1793), known as Sir John Rawdon, Bt, between 1724 and 1750 and as The Lord Rawdon between 1750 and 1762, was an Irish peer.

10 de mar. de 2017 · John was also knighted and later became Earl of Moira in 1762. This first Earl was a well known figure in Irish Government circles. Eventually the Rawdon family moved their seat to Ballynahinch around 1770. But when Sir John died in Dublin in 1793, his funeral was the largest ever seen in Ireland and it took place in Moira.

In 1752, Elizabeth married John Rawdon of Moira as Baroness Rowdon until, ten years later when, as the 1st Earl of Moira, he was elevated in the Irish peerage and she took the title Countess of Moira.
