Middle Temple (like the Inner Temple) is one of the few remaining liberties, an old name for a geographic division. It is an independent extra-parochial area , [42] historically not governed by the City of London Corporation [43] (and is today regarded as a local authority for most purposes) [44] and equally outside the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Bishop of London .
The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple is one of four Inns of Court exclusively entitled to Call their members to the Bar of England and Wales, and is proud to provide support, education and accommodation to barristers at every stage of their careers. In this, the Inn is guided by its Statement of Values .

It’s hosted the who’s who of London’s legal and royal past, from medieval times to the present. However, unless you’re a member of Middle Temple or if you’re on a private tour, it’s hard to get a peek into this Elizabethan room.
