Queen's College is a private day school for girls aged 11–18 with an adjoining prep school for girls aged 4–11 located in the City of Westminster, London. It was founded in 1848 by theologian and social reformer Frederick Denison Maurice along with a committee of patrons.
Queen's is a leading independent day school for girls between the ages of 11 and 18, occupying four large houses on Harley Street in central London. Our outstanding Prep School, for girls aged 4 to 11, is situated in a separate building, just around the corner on Portland Place.
Queen's College, London occupies an extraordinary position in the history of education. It was founded in 1848 by Frederick Denison Maurice, professor of English Literature and History at King's College, London and a Christian socialist thinker.
Founded in 1848 and given a Royal Charter in 1853 by Queen Victoria, Queen's College is a unique School. it was the first educational institution to award academic qualifications to women to enable them to apply to university, and its pioneering spirit is still much in evidence today.
