The old cantonal school of Aarau (in German: AKSA, Alte Kantonsschule Aarau or Alte Kanti) was founded in 1802 and is the oldest non-church secondary school in Switzerland.

In 2013, a team from the South Korean television station KBS came to Aarau, Switzerland, in order to investigate why the young Albert Einstein graduated successfully from the Aargau Cantonal School, but quit the Munich Luitpold-Gymnasium without a diploma.

In 1802 the Canton School was established; it was the first non-parochial high school in Switzerland. It developed a good reputation, and was home to Nobel Prize winners Albert Einstein , Paul Karrer , and Werner Arber , as well as several Swiss politicians and authors.
The old cantonal school of Aarau was founded in 1802 and is the oldest non-church secondary school in Switzerland. From 1802 to 1896, the cantonal school was housed in what is now the Amthaus on Laurenzenvorstadt.
Das “Steinmannhaus“ der alten Kantonsschule Aarau wurde 1967 bis 1969 durch die Architekten A. Barth und H. Zaugg erstellt. Es ist das erste Schulhochhaus für eine Mittelschule in der Schweiz und dient den Fachschaften Physik, Chemie, Biologie und Mathematik.
