Mel George Gaynor (born 29 May 1959 [1]) is a British drummer and a singer and recording artist, best known as the longtime drummer for the rock band Simple Minds. Also released a solo album called come with me May 2024 will start his tour autumn 2024. Mel also uses Natal drums exclusively.
Mel Gaynor was recruited (as a full member of the band) for the remaining dates. Simple Minds' first non-Scottish member, Gaynor went on to become the band's longest-standing drummer (and member aside from mainstays Burchill and Kerr) despite thrice leaving and returning in the following decades.
