Every fall, College of the Atlantic welcomes around 100 new students. You come to us from over 40 states and 45 countries around the world. You’re intellectually curious, creative, adventurous, and looking for something more than a typical liberal arts education.
College of the Atlantic (COA) is a private liberal arts college in Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island, Maine. Founded in 1969, it awards bachelors and masters degrees solely in the field of human ecology, an interdisciplinary approach to learning.
At COA you hold in your own hands the freedom, and responsibility, of building your educational path. Each student designs their own course of study, pursuing their unique interests and goals through a wide range classes across the sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences.
College of the Atlantic is a private institution that was founded in 1969. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 377 (fall 2022), its setting is rural, and the campus size is 37 acres.
