Federico IV de Austria, llamado el de los bolsillos vacíos (1382 - Innsbruck, 24 de junio de 1439), era el hijo menor de Leopoldo III de Austria y de Viridis Visconti, hija de Bernabé Visconti y de Beatrice Regina della Scala . A partir de 1402 fue duque de Austria Anterior y desde 1406 también fue conde de Tirol.
Duke Ernest’s claims initially posed only a further hindrance to an amicable settlement. Ultimately, though, he proved successful – in that he survived his rivals. Ernest was the third son of Duke Leopold III, the founder of the Leopoldine line of the Habsburgs, and Viridis Visconti.
