William Arthur Henry Cavendish-Bentinck, 7th Duke of Portland, KG (16 March 1893 – 21 March 1977), styled Marquess of Titchfield until 1943, was a British peer and Conservative politician. Biography. Portland was the elder son of William Cavendish-Bentinck, 6th Duke of Portland, and his wife, Winifred Anna (née Dallas-Yorke).
It was the 7th Duke who deposited the Portland (Welbeck) Collection at the University in 1949. Family. In 1915 he married Ivy Gordon-Lennox (1887-1982), daughter of Lord Algernon Gordon-Lennox, 2nd son of the 6th Duke of Richmond, and had: Alexandra Margaret Anne (b 1916), unmarried. 28 de abr. de 2022 · About William Cavendish-Bentinck, 7th Duke of Portland. He was by courtesy Marquess of Titchfield until 1943, when he succeeded his father as 7th Duke of Portland. He was Conservative MP for Newark from 1922 until 1943; and was appointed a Knight of the Garter in 1948.
In 1977 Cavendish-Bentinck's elder brother Ferdinand succeeded their kinsman William Cavendish-Bentinck, 7th Duke of Portland in the dukedom, becoming the 8th Duke. In the same year Cavendish-Bentinck was granted the rank of a duke's younger son, becoming styled Lord Victor Cavendish-Bentinck.
