Anaïs Mitchell (/ ə ˈ n eɪ. ɪ s /; born March 26, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and playwright. Mitchell has released eight studio albums, including Hadestown (2010), Young Man in America (2012), Child Ballads (2013), and Anaïs Mitchell (2022).

Country E.P. is a collaborative effort by Vermont-based folk artist Anaïs Mitchell and Chicago-based Rachel Ries. It is both artists' first extended play. The five-track E.P. was released on September 2, 2008 on CD with three of these tracks released on 7” vinyl.
In 2008 Mitchell was nominated in the Contemporary Artist category of the third annual Folk Alliance awards show broadcast. In September that same year Righteous Babe Records released country e.p. Mitchell released an album called Young Man in America, on her Wilderland Records label in 2012.
