In 1969, the group recorded their fourth album, Sweets for my Sweet. The Sweet Inspirations also began recording and touring with Elvis Presley as both background singers and his warm-up act, as well as doing occasional live dates with Aretha Franklin.

15 de dic. de 2016 · When they were unable to come to Vegas because of prior commitments, Elvis didn't hesitate; he signed the 'Sweets' with no audition required. The Sweet Inspirations met him when they arrived for the first rehearsals for the '69 engagement. The 'Sweets' worked with Elvis in Vegas, on his national concert tours and on recordings from 1969 to 1977.

Led by Cissy Houston, the Sweet Inspirations were highly-in-demand female back-up singers featured on some of the most important pop and soul recordings of the 1960s and '70s. They toured and served as session background vocals on albums by various artists' including Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Dusty Springfield.
Shuffling between recordings and live performances with Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Elvis Presley as well as their own commitments. Though Cissy Houston left the group after their last Atlantic Recording, the original members Myrna Smith, Estelle Brown & Sylvia Shemwell recorded an excellent album for Stax Records in Memphis in 1973.
