    Alexander Stewart is the younger son of King James IV and Queen Margaret Tudor.

    James is born as the second legitimate child of the king of Scotland, having many elder illegitimate half-siblings, and an elder brother, James. After his father dies during the Battle of Flodden, his brother James becomes king, with his mother serving as queen regent.

    After his mother remarries to the Earl of Angus, the Scottish lords attempt to seize power from Margaret, and she, Angus, and her sons are besieged at Stirling. When Howard arrives to discuss Margaret's regency, she leaves seclusion, but she is betrayed when her second husband hands her sons over to the Scottish lords.
