Roger Joseph Ebert ( / ˈiːbərt / EE-burt; June 18, 1942 – April 4, 2013) was an American film critic, film historian, journalist, essayist, screenwriter, and author. He was a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1967 until his death in 2013.

Roger Joseph Ebert nació en 1942, “en el centro del universo […] en la esquina de las calles Washington y Maple en Urbana, Illinois” (como anota en sus memorias). Luego de trabajar como reportero en sus años estudiantiles debutó como crítico el 3 de abril de 1967 en el Chicago Sun-Times en 1967, donde publicó hasta su muerte.
