Biography. Gunhild was the daughter of Godwin, Earl of Wessex and Gytha. [1] [2] [3] Her birth date is unknown. In about 1068 Gunhild accompanied her mother and Gytha, daughter of her brother Harold II, to Flanders. [1] . She moved from St Omer to Bruges, then for a period to Denmark, and then returned to Bruges, where she died on 24 August 1087.
