“Originally The Slits had another bass player called Suzie Gutsy. I met The Slits through this News of the World article that was written about women in punk right at the beginning. Ari came round to my flat and she really liked all this poetry I had written on the wall. Suzie Gutsy got kicked out and I joined, that was it really.
The group's early line-up consisted of Ari Up (Ariane Forster) and Palmolive (a.k.a. Paloma Romero, who played briefly with Spizzenergi and later left to join the Raincoats ), with Viv Albertine and Tessa Pollitt replacing founding members Kate Korus and Suzy Gutsy. [1]

The original lineup of the The Slits consisted of Ari Up ( Arianna Forster) on lead vocals, Kate Korus on guitar, Suzy Gutsy on bass and Paloma Romero on drums. Korus and Gutsy were replaced early on by Tessa Pollitt on bass and Viv Albertine on guitar.
8 de mar. de 2024 · The lineup initially featured Up, Palmolive, Suzy Gutsy and Kate Korus, before the latter two were soon replaced by Tessa Pollitt and Albertine, respectively. None of the members of the band were exceptionally knowledgeable when it came to the technicalities of their instruments, but that didn’t stop them from giving their all to the project.
The three were joined by bassist Suzy Gutsy to form the first version of the Slits. On 17 January 1977, the English tabloid News of the World published the first article about female punks in London. The Slits were featured, along with the Castrators, another all-female band.
