Thomas Welde (bap. 1595 – 1661) was an English clergyman, who became a Puritan, emigrant to New England, colonial missionary, author and polemicist. His sojourn in the New World turned out be brief lasting only nine years, but he left his mark over there.
The individual is Cardinal Thomas Weld, who before his elevation to the cardinalate was the Titular Bishop of Amycla (in Greece) and Coadjutor Bishop of Kingston, in the Province of Upper Canada, present-day Ontario.
Henry Thomas Weld (1816–1893), eldest son of James and Julianna Weld, emigrated to Maryland in 1838 and became a director of the Maryland and New York Coal and Iron Company. He married Harriet Hoffman Tilghman, daughter of Capt. Philemon Tilghman RN and a relation of William Tilghman.
