5 de may. de 2023 · King Charles III will be officially crowned at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, 112 years after the ceremony was held for his great grandfather King George V -- the only British monarch to subsequently travel to India to attend his coronation Durbar in Delhi.
The Coronation Durbar was a momentous interlude in the British imperial experience, not just contributing towards the creation of ‘a uniquely royal and ritualised realm’, 2 but also inaugurating a new political roadmap for the Raj.
The royal couple arrived in their Coronation robes, the King-Emperor wearing the Imperial Crown of India with eight arches, containing 6,100 diamonds, and covered with sapphires, emeralds and rubies, with a velvet and miniver cap all weighing 34 ounces (965 g).
