‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ universe does have some loose chronology, but it’s mostly tied to release dates, and groups of movies serve as sequels, with each group of movies rebooting the universe.

Following the release of ‘The Road Chip in 2015, there have been rumors about a possible sequel, but nothing was substantiated or came true.
