    He inherited Badlesmere from his father Bartholomew de Badlesmere.It is was his son Bartholomew who was called to parliament as a lord and is thus considered to be the first "Lord Badlesmere" or "Baron Badlesmere".

    There does not appear to be any record of Guncelin's wife, but genealogists have given her various names and proposed that she must be a member of the Fitzbernard family, because the Baldesmeres appear to be their heir.
