He left the same school in 1836 with the rank of second lieutenant. Then he completed his training with a course at the Royal Staff Corps Demonstration School (école d'application du Corps royal d'état-major) from January 1, 1837. On January 23, 1839, he became lieutenant of the Staff Corps.
