- About Us
Bristol Cathedral Choir School is a mixed gender non-selective musical Secondary Academy, located in the Cabot area of Bristol, England. Until 2008 it was Bristol Cathedral School, part of Bristol Cathedral, in the centre of the city. The choristers at Bristol Cathedral are educated at the school, which has a strong musical tradition.
We are part of the Cathedral Schools Trust, a local family of schools with a shared commitment to educational excellence for the people and communities we serve. Here at BCCS there are currently over 1100 students, from all parts of Bristol, in Years 7 to 13.
Bristol Cathedral Choir School is Bristol's oldest school. The early years of Bristol Cathedral Choir School are shrouded in mystery. We know that Robert Fitzharding donated money to found a house of Augustinian canons in 1142; this would have included provision for a small school, to be run by the monks.
The Sixth Form is a vibrant and diverse community, comprising of students coming from over 40 schools across the locality. We welcome all applications and recognise how big a decision is for young people. Thank you for considering BCCS.
