Oakland Military Institute, formally the Oakland Military Institute College Preparatory Academy, is a charter school run by the California Military Department's Youth and Community Programs Task Force in partnership with the Oakland Unified School District in Oakland, California.
Our program unites strong academics with military leadership training. Civilians and personnel of the California Military Department work hand in hand as full- time administrators, teachers and staff on our campus. Each student becomes a member of the California Cadet Corps (CACC).
Oakland Military Academy was founded in Oakland, New Jersey in the 1930s by the Sarcka family. During the 1950s, the military curriculum was discontinued, and the academy was moved to New Windsor, New York.
Oakland Military Institute College Preparatory Academy is ranked 868th within California. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams.

Oakland Military Institute presents a strong academic program for its students: Approximately 58 percent take and qualify for advance placement, noting an accelerated academic path. Graduates of this school actively pursue higher education at almost twice the national average.
