This site is dedicated to Jeff Carlisi and his history as a solo musician, founding member and lead guitarist and song writer for .38 Special, founding member of Camp Jam.
In early 1997, 38's long time guitarist/co-founder Jeff Carlisi, tired of the endless touring, decided to leave to form the Bonnie Blue Band, which led to the supergroup Big People, which also featured Benjamin Orr (from the Cars), Liberty DeVitto (from Billy Joel's band), Derek St. Holmes (ex-Ted Nugent) and Pat Travers.
I got the chance to chat with Jeff Carlisi who was with the band until 1997 to talk about… rock and roll, the early days and the Jacksonville scene. It’s one of my favourite interviews in the 11 years of the Rockpit and I hope to catch up with Jeff soon to dig deeper into the history of the band.
27 de nov. de 2020 · Jeff Carlisi was the lead guitarist & an original founding member of 38 Special. He was responsible for SO MANY of the band’s great signature guitar solos and licks, and he was also the co-writer of many of the bands top hits, including my favorite 38 special song, “If I’d Been The One,” from Tour de Force (1983).

10 de sept. de 2021 · Hot pink vinyl reissue of 1980’s Wild-Eyed Southern Boys. And so the band became a six-piece, with Donnie Van Zant at the front, Don Barnes on guitars and vocals, Jeff Carlisi also on lead guitar, both Steve Brookins and Jack Grondin on drums, and Ken Lyons on bass. It made for gruelling touring.
