Ernest Rouart (24 August 1874, Paris - 27 February 1942, Paris) was a French painter, watercolorist, pastellist, engraver, and art collector. Biography. Man with a Dog. (his brother, Eugène) He was one of four sons and a daughter born to the engineer and painter, Henri Rouart. His brother, Eugène [ fr], was a well known politician.

Biography Ernest Rouart was one of the five children on Henri Rouart [1833-1912], an engineer, collector and artist. Henri was intimately involved with the Impressionist painters, especially Degas, whose Dancers at the Bar, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he once owned.

Julie married Ernest Rouart, one of the five children of Henri Rouart [1833-1912], an engineer, collector and artist. Henri was intimately involved with the Impressionist painters, and himself exhibited in all the official Salons between 1868-1872 as well as with the Impressionists from 1876-1996 (except 1882).
Making few changes in the model's pose, but changing from the more frontal presentation he had once considered, Renoir quickly decided on the final composition. Julie, later Madame Ernest Rouart (1878-1966), remembered the sittings.
