The IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) also known as French Institute of Petroleum (in French: Institut Français du Pétrole, IFP) is a public research organisation in France founded in 1944 as Institute of Oil, Fuels and Lubricants (Institut du pétrole, des carburants et des lubrifiants).
The IFP School ( French: ENSPM - École Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs) is a graduate engineering school located in Rueil-Malmaison, France. Founded in 1954, IFP School is part of the IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN), a French public-sector research and training center.

In line with national objectives aimed at producing low-carbon and renewable hydrogen and expanding its usage, IFPEN teams work on the production, storage, transportation, and various energy applications of hydrogen, thus supporting the development of an associated industrial sector.
IFPEN has proven expertise across the entire value chain, from fundamental research to innovation. It is funded both by a state budget and by resources provided by industrial partners. The latter account for over 50% of IFPEN's total budget, a configuration that is unique in France.
