Viva Caruso is one of Joe Lovano's "most ambitious and enjoyable recordings". Inspired by the legendary Italian tenor, Enrico Caruso , Lovano deftly, yet directly, applies orchestral melodies and figures in different manners to create a beautifully meditative collection of music.

Viva Caruso, Lovano’s thirteenth album for Blue Note, finds him experimenting with different group configurations covering tunes Caruso recorded (mostly culled from the Nimbus collection Caruso In Song) or heard growing up in Naples, as well as homage originals penned by the saxophonist.

Joe Lovano’s ‘Viva Caruso,’ is his thirteenth album for Blue Note and dedicated to the music of that great Italian tenor Enrico Caruso – some titles are taken from the Caruso collection ‘Caruso In Song’ whilst others are written and arranged by Lovano.
