Ambrose Dudley, 3rd Earl of Warwick, KG (c. 1530 – 21 February 1590) was an English nobleman and general, and an elder brother of Queen Elizabeth I's favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
26 de abr. de 2022 · Ambrose Dudley, 3rd Earl of Warwick (b. c.1528, d. 21 February 1590), was the fourth son of John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland and his wife Jane Guilford. He was an elder brother of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. In 1561 he became Earl of Warwick and Queen Elizabeth I employed him in military expeditions in France and in England.
The ceremony took place on 11th November 1565 in the chapel royal at Whitehall Palace. The wedding was a notably lavish affair, which included elaborate tournaments and banquets. Additionally, the union united two significant Protestant families of high Tudor society: the Russells and the Dudleys.
On this day in history, 21st February 1590, Ambrose Dudley, 3rd Earl of Warwick, Master of the Ordnance, Privy Councillor and fourth son of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, died at Bedford House on the Strand.
When Ambrose Dudley 3rd Earl of Warwick was born on 21 February 1528, in Warwickshire, England, his father, Sir John Dudley, was 26 and his mother, Lady Jane Guildford, was 25. He married Anne Whorwood before 4 March 1545. They were the parents of at least 1 son.
In March 1559, Ambrose was granted the manor of Knebworth Beauchamp in Leicestershire, on the 12th of April 1560 was given a patent for the office of master of the ordnance, and on the 25th of December 1561, he was created Baron Lisle and the following day, Earl of Warwick.
