Lieutenant Christopher Furness VC (17 May 1912 – 24 May 1940) was a British Army officer and an English recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
On 21 May 1940 the British Expeditionary force, confronted by the German advance south of its main line, which threatened the Channel Ports, counter-attacked at Arras but was repulsed. By the 23rd Arras itself was almost encircled and the decision was made to evacu- ate it.

24 de may. de 2018 · Remembering the Fallen: on this day in 1940, Lieutenant the Honourable Christopher Furness VC, 1st Battalion, the Welsh Guards, was killed in action near Arras. The eldest son of the 1st Viscount Furness, he was educated at Eton College, and joined the army at the outbreak of the second world war.
