Paradiso (Italian: [paraˈdiːzo]; Italian for "Paradise" or "Heaven") is the third and final part of Dante's Divine Comedy, following the Inferno and the Purgatorio. It is an allegory telling of Dante's journey through Heaven, guided by Beatrice, who symbolises theology.

Paradiso Summary. Next. Canto 1. Dante has journeyed through Heaven, the realm of God’s light, a place impossible for a mortal to fully remember, much less describe. Nevertheless, he calls upon God for help in writing as much as he can. Dante and his beloved, Beatrice, begin their journey a few days after Easter Sunday.
According to this cosmic order, Dante’s rising is not remarkable; rather, it would be remarkable if he were not to rise, now that he is free of all impediment (Par. 1.139-40). Paradise, according to Dante, is the heavenly abode of God, the angels and the blessed. As presented in the Paradiso, Dante's idea of Paradise is tied to his understanding of the cosmos.
