Sophie of Hesse-Kassel (12 September 1615, in Kassel – 22 November 1670, in Bückeburg) was a princess of Hesse-Kassel by birth and by marriage Countess of Schaumburg-Lippe. Life. Sophie was a daughter of Count Maurice of Hesse-Kassel (1572–1632) from his marriage to Juliane (1587–1643), daughter of Count John VII of Nassau-Siegen.
Hedwig Sophia of Brandenburg (14 July 1623, Berlin – 26 June 1683, Schmalkalden) was Landgravine consort of Hesse-Kassel by marriage to William VI, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel, and regent from 1663 until 1677 during the minority of her sons, William VII, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel and Charles I, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel .
Landgravine Sophie of Hesse-Kassel was born on September 12 1615, in Kassel, to Maurice, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel and Juliana of Nassau-Dillenburg. Landgravine married Philip I, Count of Schaumburg-Lippe on October 13 1644, at age 29.

Unusually for a Hessian landgravine, she converted to Catholicism in 1901, which led to political complications. Anna was the subject of one of the most famous paintings by Franz Xaver Winterhalter , in which she is depicted wearing a sweeping dress of tulle over pink silk.
