Sir George Desmond Lorenz de Silva, QC, KStJ (13 December 1939 – 2 June 2018) was a British criminal law barrister and international lawyer who served as the United Nations Chief War Crimes Prosecutor in Sierra Leone.

The Rt Hon Sir George Desmond Lorenz de Silva, QC KStJ was a prominent British lawyer, and former United Nations Chief War Crimes Prosecutor in Sierra Leone. He was a former husband of Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia, a great-niece of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Barrister and former United Nations Chief Prosecutor in Sierra Leone, Sir Desmond de Silva QC died from heart failure, aged 78. He was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 1964, and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1984.
