Count Carl Robert Mannerheim (1 February 1835 – 9 October 1914) was a Finnish aristocrat and businessman. He was the son of naturalist Carl Gustaf Mannerheim, and father of Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim. Biography

After the Russian Revolution, he commanded Finnish White forces in the Finnish Civil War of 1918. He served as the Head of State of independent Finland in 1918-1919.

His father, Count Carl Robert Mannerheim, was an industrialist and businessman. Unfavourable economic trends, gambling and socialising forced him into bankruptcy and the family was forced to sell their manor house. Father deserted his wife and children, travelling instead to France and the USA.
12 de mar. de 2017 · Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim was born June 4th, 1867 in Louhisaari, the third child of Count Carl Robert Mannerheim and his wife Helena von Julin. At the age of 14 he enrolled in a course for officers in Hamina but was expelled from school for disciplinary reasons.
