The Blueprint Project, with bassist Cecil McBee and drummer Matt Wilson joining the trio, makes some deep connections indeed. The quintet quickly establishes a group dynamic in which each player maintains their individual integrity while contributing to a collective whole.
Saxophonist Jared Sims, guitarist Eric Hofbauer and pianist Tyson Rogers, together as The Blueprint Project, augment their compositions and highly developed interaction with legendary rhythm section players (Han Bennink, Cecil McBee and Matt Wilson) to create an eclectic intergenerational ensemble that is constantly reinventing itself.
For this release, they add accomplished drummer Matt Wilson and bassist Cecil McBee who blend in as if they’d been together from the beginning. The eight compositions were written by the trio and are all daring tracks from the klezmer/tango “The Old Country” to the cool fusion of “Molecular Mischief” the songs have a good feel.
