William Spratly was the Second Officer of the British whaler, Cyrus and brother of its captain, Richard Spratly, who is notable for naming Spratly Island and being the namesake [citation needed] of the Spratly Islands. [1]
Harold Melvin, Jerry Cummings, and new members Dwight Johnson, David Ebo and William Spratley released The Blue Album in 1980 on Source Records, an imprint of MCA Records, which had acquired ABC Records in 1979. Their final album for MCA, All Things Happen in Time, was released in 1981.

(1944-October 2002) Second tenor born in Petersburg, Virginia, who lived in Hopewell, Virginia,, who graduated from Peabody High School and went on to serve in the US Air Force for 3 years. After leaving service he sang with various groups and later became a member of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes from 1977 to 1997.
This, their debut album for the ABC Records label, was recorded in 1976 and released in 1977. This is the first album without Teddy Pendergrass, David Ebo was his replacement. Also joining the Blue Notes were Dwight Johnson and William Spratley.
