    Salim b. 'Amr b. 'Abd Allah was a servant of the clan of Banu l-Madina al-Kalbi, and was a Shi'a in Kufa. He accompanied Muslim b. 'Aqil in his uprising, and after Muslim's martyrdom, he was arrested by Kathir b. Shahab. He escaped 'Ubayd Allah b. Ziyad's prison after a while and hid in his own tribe.
