Plot. Throughout his life, sheriff -turned- gunfighter John Bernard "J.B." Books has committed thirty-plus killings. Now an older man, Books arrives in Carson City, Nevada, in late January 1901. Soon, he is confronted by an armed robber, who he quickly disarms by wounding him.
