Thomas Posey (July 9, 1750 – March 19, 1818) was an officer in the American Revolution, a general during peacetime, the third Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, Governor of the Indiana Territory, and a Louisiana Senator.

24 de jul. de 1997 · Thomas Posey (1750-1818) was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, and received little formal education. At the age of 19 he went to the Virginia frontier where he enlisted in that state's militia and fought the Indians beyond the western frontier in 1774.

Moving with the frontier, General Posey turned up in Louisiana by 1812 and briefly served as United States senator from that state. He was appointed governor of the Indiana Territory in 1813 following Harrison's resignation and served in that capacity until statehood in 1816.
