Charles Victor Albert Aubrey de Vere Beauclerk, 11th Duke of St Albans (26 March 1870 – 19 September 1934) was a British peer and soldier, known as Earl of Burford before 1898. Beauclerk was the eldest son of the 10th Duke of St Albans and a godchild of Queen Victoria and Albert, Prince of Wales.
Duke of St Albans is a title in the Peerage of England. It was created in 1684 for Charles Beauclerk, 1st Earl of Burford, then 14 years old.

The sitter (1620-1726, presuming he is correctly identified as the Duke of St. Albans), was the illegitimate son of Charles II by the actress Nell Gwynn.
I am particularly interested in the fate of his three sons, who grew up during the heyday of Bestwood Lodge in the 1870s and 1880s: Charles, 11th Duke of St. Albans (1870-1934); Osborne, 12th Duke (1874-1964); and Lord William Beauclerk (1883-1954).
