20 de may. de 2020 · Margaret Martha Brooke, MBE, dietician, naval officer, war hero, paleontologist (born 10 April 1915 in Ardath, SK ; died 9 January 2016 in Victoria, BC ). Brooke was a nursing sister during the Second World War and survived the torpedoing of the SS Caribou.
HMCS Margaret Brooke (AOPV 431) is the second Harry DeWolf-class offshore patrol vessel for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). The class was derived from the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship project as part of the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy and is primarily designed for the patrol and support of Canada's Arctic regions.

Lieutenant Commander Margaret Brooke, MBE, was a Royal Canadian Navy Nursing Sister decorated for gallantry during the Second World War. On October 14, 1942, a German submarine torpedoed the SS Caribou off the coast of Newfoundland, sinking the ferry within five minutes.
16 de jul. de 2021 · Nursing Sister LCdr Margaret Brooke (then a sub-lieutenant), who was on the Caribou, received a Member (Military Division) of the Order of the British Empire for her efforts to save her friend, Nursing Sister Sub-Lieutenant (S-Lt) Agnes Wilkie. Both women clung to ropes on a capsized lifeboat.
