Founded on September 2, 2019 in Ankara, May 17 aims to strengthen the LGBTI+ community and its activism. Be it on a societal or an individual level, we fight against all sorts of discriminatory practices based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
Why May 17? The association derives its name from May 17, 1990, the date when WHO declassified homosexuality as a disorder. From that day onwards, May 17 has been celebrated as The International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
