The Halifax Three (or the Halifax III), originally the Colonials, was a folk music band in Canada in the 1960s. The band performed in Toronto and Montreal before becoming part of the New York folk scene and recording an album.

The Halifax Three (or The Halifax III), originally The Colonials, was a folk music band in Canada in the 1960s. the members of the trio were Denny Doherty, Pat LaCroix and Richard Byrne. The group, with the addition of Toronto born Zal Yanovsky, toured with The Journeymen and played Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Nació en Halifax el 29 de noviembre de 1940. Inició su carrera musical en Montreal en 1960. La increíble voz de Doherty se dio a conocer a sus 19 años cuando fundó el grupo folk The Colonials , cuando estos obtuvieron el contrato con Columbia Records se cambiaron el nombre a The Halifax Three .
